Books we have known and loved (reappear)

First, good news (via Blog from the Windowsill, via² Jen Robinson) - Elizabeth Enright's Melendy family books are being republished.  In two days' time, apparently.  Little odd that there's no image available still, but ... Some of our most-loved books.  I could start throwing out favourite scenes and be here for ages - hope I'd be joined by everyone else.

Next up  - I'm sure I'm not the only parent to have read Jill Murphy's Five Minutes' Peace many times - for those who'd like to see a slightly different version of this story - with photographs, a crazy cat, and the Yarn Harlot's wonderful sense of humour - try this.  (You'll still get a laugh if you've never heard of the book. Or the Yarn Harlot.)

Finally, not a book-related item, AFAIK, though I bet someone could tell of a relevant picture-book: this knitting pattern.  Cute in a goofy way, but do many people really have the time to knit toilet rolls?

Oh yes! I was shocked to find they were unavailable a few years ago, when trying to buy them for Charlie. I do hope the covers are nicer than those on the last editions though!

I don't think I've read the Melendy books, although I've heard of them. I've just put the first on hold at the library (I really appreciate the way this library system has kept old stock in reserve and also easily accessible!) so I might soon be joining in with your excitement :)

Oh yay - I do hope you enjoy them too! Some of my favourite characters of all time. And scenes which are just so perfect they stay with you (or with me - and the girls, at least!) forever.
