[livejournal.com profile] generalblossom and her mega-points for evil book pushing... Actually, inspired by her linking to the The Book Depository, it occurred to me to check whether there was a website for the Betterworld Bookstore, another Amazon Marketplace seller I like to use. Of course there is! Free shipping in the US, but only $2.97 (only just over €2 now) per book anywhere in the world, and as they sell used books too, you can often get much cheaper copies. And it benefits literacy causes! And it tells you which one your purchase helps! AND carbon-neutral shipping! And I've now exceeded my exclamation mark allowance for months...

I've found quite a few of the child lit critical books I've needed from them, and now just ordered The Phoenix Dance, after reading a really intriguing review on Jen Robinson's Book Page. 'The Twelve Dancing Princesses' was O.D.'s favourite fairy tale for a long time, and using it this way could be great or could be a disaster, but sounds as if it's worked well. Very interested to read this one. Maybe if I get through all my course reading before the 48 Hour Book Challenge...

Thanks for the review! I'm feeling particularly cheerful about Betterworld Bookshop's cheap shipping to Ireland or there might have been just a bit more of the gritted teeth about the thank you. :)

I'm going to have a stack of critical books to sell sometime in December. You might want to check with me, or keep an eye on my LJ around then.

Will do! Thanks. And thanks again for the rec of the Penguin Classics ed. of Little Women - I hadn't known about those changes to the text and it's very useful background info.

oh lovely! Of course yesterday I was trying to push books into my TBR shelves ( ahem, that plural is in no way an admission. could be just two very small ones), but in no way is that worrying me :)

OTOH, I might be saved, their search feature is appallingly bad, might be only workable for rarer sort of names for titles or authors...

Hmm - you're trying to downplay my pusher points. Not sure what it says that I'd no problem ordering a book from them, but it's probably not good!

Dumb me! I forgot that I was using Steepholm's computer so would be logged into LJ as ... Steepholm! This is me, H.
