Say what?

Apparently, I swiped my credit card in a K-Mart in Pennsylvania yesterday and spent around $850.  A couple of days earlier, I'd spent a mere $300-odd there....   Wonder what I bought?  I'm guessing it was a snazzy flat-screen TV, though it could have been a collection of mobile phones and/or iPods.  Or a computer!  (I do hope I knew I'm a Maccie through and through.)

Other than that, I have not been sulking in my cave since I last posted - I've been without internet (still am intermittently - technician is coming out tomorrow to fix the line.  In theory) and then away to Wales, where I stayed in the most amazing beach house owned by [personal profile] steepholm's cousins.  Should have been the easiest trip ever, as I walked 5 minutes down to the train, got off 3 stops later, walked another 2 minutes or so and got on the ferry, and was to take a train from Holyhead which would have got to Rhosneigr in less than 10 minutes.  But, I managed to FAIL.  First realising that stuffing King's Shield in my bag would result in death of the bag (and consequent loss of the book), I reluctantly left it behind, and settled for City of Ashes, which is paperback and I was reading already.  But at some point in the shuffling organization, I managed to leave both book and print-out of Becca's latest story on the dining room table.  And I had very little cash, and there was no ATM in the ferry - not that there were any shops selling read-worthy reading material anywhere anyway.  Luckily I had knitting with me, though it was my carefully chosen mindless knitting, which wasn't the best choice for the trip. Much more luckily, steepholm had brought me reading material.... (Missing the train was hardly my fault, though I felt guilty anyway for dragging poor steepholm back into his car to collect me.)

Getting off the ferry in Holyhead (that's the extreme Welsh tip of Wales, for everyone who'd have no reason to know this), I was amused to overhear one of a group of Scouts inhaling loudly and saying 'Aaahhh, English air'.  (Breathing Irish air for the week or so of his visit must have been a strain!) He was corrected by his much shorter companion, telling him, geographically accurately if ungrammatically, 'Wales air, actually!'

I read that as "a group of Scots", first time. But collecting you from Holyhead was no trouble at all!

Wouldn't have been if you hadn't had such a long drive already. But in 'No arguing at international mobile phone rates' you found the irresistible force to overcome my immovable stubbornness, I'm afraid!

I too have made mysterious purchases in Pennsylvania, though mine were at Wal-Mart. It is amazing what one can do with mental powers, no?

Oooh, is that how it was done? I'm so glad you explained my power to me! Hope you liked your purchases when you magicked them to yourself.

Oh - exciting! I'll try not to be like the turkeys who drown from looking up when it's pouring rain. :) (Unless that's yet another of those old wives' tales I believed implicitly but shouldn't have.)

My mysterious purchases were in Japan. Possibly Osaka.

Sounds more interestingly mysterious than a K-Mart in Pennsylvania! Though that's small consolation...
