How very weird - I have a sort of list of books which should-be-expected-soon somewhere in the back of my brain that flickers in and out with sometimes uncanny accuracy (and other times fails me completely, of course. Along the lines of the mental list that disappears somewhere into the aether the second you walk into library or bookshop to browse.) It threw Here Lies Arthur towards the front-brain, just as it had been published, so I could get my greedy hands on it almost immediately, which I did. And just now reading the weekend reviews roundup on Big A little a I saw there was one of Here Lies Arthur in the Independent and went to have a look. (Okay review if you haven't read it, but if you have, and are feeling starved for discussion... !) Halfway through my back-of-burner list suddenly flashed up Catherine Fisher - Incarceron - MUST be out now - and lo and behold - the last book of the lot was Incarceron. Which is due out 2 May but is apparently already available from Amazon. I feel a trip to town calling me, and I'm certainly not the woman to succeed in resisting that kind of temptation. As proof of which, I'll let drop the fact that I first heard about the book from Catherine herself, in Charlie's car in Bristol...

I had promised myself that I'd finish my reread of An Old-Fashioned Girl, followed by a reread of Little Women (Penguin and/or Oxford's World Classics ed), followed by a read of Work, and only then would I return to the new books calling me from various locations around my room - not to mention the shops - satisfying my new-book cravings only with a brief witter about Shannon Hale's River Secrets. I'll do the last anyway...
